With many delightful vineyards, cafes & restaurants featuring local food and wine, dining out is an adventure in itself. Or you may want an invigorating coastal or bush walk and a picnic at one of our four Regional Parks. Within the Matakana Coast area's relaxing rural setting you’ll also discover Warkworth, a thriving riverside town as well as numerous villages each with their own distinctive character.
The development of Matakana Village is a fairly recent phenomenon. This once rural village with only a few services is now the home of a boutique cinema complex, a range of sophisticated shops and galleries, a wonderful new children's playground, a purpose-built Farmer's Market, iconic public toilets,......and more.
A lovely family area, the Matakana Coast has a range of water and land activities for all ages. Yachties and bach owners have enjoyed the pleasures of our area for years. The secret's out –you should come and see for yourself.
